PREPARE
Start with the solution
An adult pours the crystal powder into the growing container, then adds boiling water to the 230 mL mark.

STIR & COOL
Mix, then let it cool
Stir until the powder has fully dissolved. Let it stand for about 10 minutes, and wait until it cools to 104°F / 40°C.

PLACE & OBSERVE
Let the wonder begin
Place the hedgehog in the cooled solution. Follow the included lid instructions and leave the container undisturbed. Check for changes over the first 24 hours.

Allow around 3–5 days for growth. Once ready, follow the included removal and drying instructions, then find a special spot for your creation.

This was a fun science experiment to do with my son. The green hedgehog grew faster than the blue hedgehog. Overall we were very pleased with this experiment!
Our kids love to do the whole process. The kids love to see how the crystal sizes change based on the amount of time we let them grow.
I got these for my grandson for Christmas who loves to do any type of thing that is either crafty or engineer like. He just absolutely loved making them and then watching the crystals grow.
The kids loved them because they actually worked. They each sent me pictures of theirs after they were done growing the crystals. So cute and a great gift.

How long do the crystals take to grow?
The growing guide suggests around 3–5 days for the finished result. Timing can vary with temperature, preparation and growing conditions, so follow the instructions included with your kit.
Is it difficult to get started?
The process is guided: prepare the crystal solution, let it cool as directed, place the hedgehog inside and leave it to grow. Measure carefully and follow the included guide. An adult should handle hot water and supervise the activity.
Do all eight colors come with my order?
Each product is sold as one individual kit in your selected color. Choose from Pink, Red, Yellow, Purple, White, Green, Blue or Orange. The full color collection is shown to help you choose.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Each crystal formation can look a little different. Crystal size, shape, coverage and color intensity may vary with growing conditions. Product images show the intended appearance; identical results are not guaranteed.
Should I move the container while it grows?
Choose a stable place where you can observe it without moving or disturbing the container. Follow the kit’s instructions for placement and covering during growth.
Can we display the finished hedgehog?
Yes. Once growth is complete, an adult can help remove it and let it dry as directed. Handle the crystals gently and display the finished creation in a dry place, away from small children and pets.
